William came to with a pounding head and an aching body. A chilling breeze brushed against his bare torso that told him he was outside. He lifted his heavy eyes but only saw black. In the background he heard people muttering things to one another, things he could not understand. The words were congealed into a greater rumble that soon became the background to footsteps approaching from behind. They clicked like hard leather on wood and grew louder until he felt they were beside him
William felt an open hand come down onto his head and pull away whatever covered it, forcing hard light onto his unready eyes. He shut them for a moment, but tried his best to pry them open when a man's voice overcame the commotion.
"Citizens of High Coast, feast your eyes on the problem plaguing the world!" William could barely make out the crowd of people in front of him. They were basked in amber light and hanging on every word the man spoke.
"We found these pirates on the edge of town coming to take what little we have left." He spit the words out like a bitter paste and started a slow pace across the wooden structure they were on.
"Had my advisor Dudley not been patrolling the coast, they might've gotten away with raiding the town!" William's vision was clear enough to make out his surroundings. He was on his knees on an elevated platform. That platform was in a larger courtyard that was close to ruins, and before him stood a crowd of people.
Most of them were humans but all of them looked noticeably downtrodden. Many of them were shirtless, and those who were clothed wore rags that looked to fall apart at every passing wind.
William looked to the man speaking but could only see his back. He was better dressed than the people he spoke to, that was certain. He wore a leather jacket, leather boots, and slacks befitting a lower class Marine.
"So of you good people I ask, what should we do with these marauders?"
These? Marauders? William mused, then noticed there was someone next to him. A man covered in tattoos he'd never seen before. What the hell is going on? He asked but quickly realized he didn't care to find out.
He moved to stand but felt his effort resisted by a pull from behind. He was bound in restraints that chained his hands and feet together. To make matters worse, they were attached to wooden structure and to the man next to him.
"Damnit."

Gurgle Gurgle Gggglee Blahhh Blahhh!Everything ranging from the man speaking the loudest and the crowd nearby would only come to Gungnir as heavily slurred and impossible to decipher sounds, not even words. He felt pressure and a stinging pain at his forehead and his temples throbbed, while the back of his head felt warm, iron spicing his taste buds. Further disentangling the problem at hand of what could have possibly happened, Gungnir could only assume he must've taken some blunt blow to the back of the head knocking him out clean before he could even defend himself. The first word he actually could make out clearly came from someone closer to his position however, causing his attention to turn to them directly, his neck craning in an almost eerie way. " Damnit. "Who the fuck?Gungnir would bite his lip in attempt to use pain to force him to recall some memory, anything. But alas there was nothing and with his head still pounding he couldn't concentrate enough to use his Heatwave technique or even his Flame Cannon punch. Even if his axe had been left on his person he was still chained to a post and further still to the blond man nearby. Cursing under his breath the salamander would speak up himself. " Dude, what the fuck? "Clenching his fists tightly he'd fight his restraints, straining about as much as the shackles would allow, chains clattering and drawing attention to his struggle. William cut a glance toward his now conscious counterpart and raised a brow. Does he think I had somethin' to do with this? He thought to give him a piece of his mind, but before he could get a word out the uniformed man turned to face the duo.
"Your paralysis is starting to wear off it seems." The man cast a knowing look to his cohort, Dudley, and addressed the crowd once more.
"Forgive me. Protecting you all has made my heart hard over the years. As your mayor I will take the responsibility of punishing this miscreants, so that you may sleep at night with light hearts." William didn't like the man's tone. It reeked an insincerity he knew all too well.
"Hey, uh, mayor?" William called, making sure he spoke loud enough for the crowd to hear. The man in uniform looked to him with a brow raised high. If this window was all he had William knew he had to act fast.
Dudley, his mysterious assistant, moved closer. He was a little man dressed in all black robes with a peculiar headpiece that covered his face. William wondered how he could see, and why he didn't speak, but only for a moment. He was running out of time.
"Pardon my interruption but you've made a mistake. I ain't a pirate. I'm a Marine. Lieutenant Commander Ganning to be exact." The crowd gasped, and the man in uniformed looked tiffed to be called out in front of his people.
"Lieutenant Commander?" The mayor hummed, suspicious. "If that's true where's your coat?"
"'Lost it trying to save your sorry asses from this guy." William threw a nod in Gungnir's direction and the crowd rumbled with confused chatter. The mayor, panicked, looked to Dudley who was fiercely shaking his head and waving his arms.
"Is this true?!" Dudley wouldn't speak, but tried his best to diffuse the mayor's suspicion.
So that's how he snuck up on me. William thought of Dudley. 'Guy makes no noise. Can't even talk.
"Yeah, it's true alright. I've been trailing this criminal all across the line. I'm sure the boys back at headquarters'll be thrilled to hear about the treacherous mayor of High Coast."
The Mayor bit down fiercely and growled through his caged teeth. "RELEASE HIM THIS INSTANT, YOU IMBECILE!"
Dudley hung his head low and took a sullen walk toward William. He fetched a key from in his robes and first unshackled the foot restraints, then turned toward the mayor once more.
William watched him plead and gesture with his entire body to illustrate what had happened..
Then SLIP— the key flew from his hands and into one of the flaming braziers.
"DUDLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!!
The robed vizier threw a quick hand in to fetch out the key and in a flash his sleeve was lit like a candle. The heaving crowd went alight with panic, screaming while Dudley tried his best to safe himself.
One of his misguided attempts knocked the brazier to it's side onto the wooden platform where all it's coals, and wood, and burning oil spilled. Red flames grabbed every inch they could and smoke quickly filled the air.
"Escape! Everyone!" He shrieked in a terrified crackle and dove off the stage. Dudley, still on fire, tumbled into a cloud of smoke and out of sight which meant William and his fellow captive were stuck there.
He sprung to his feet and braced himself as the parts of the stage began to give way to the flames. It was only a matter of time before it collapsed.

So knocked out clean and drugged? The thought of being so easily ragged doll left the Bounty Hunter crushed on the inside, his fiery pride nearly extinguished at least for the time being. The thug that had done so seemed to be so apply named Dudley, a silent figure in shadow robes with an equally covered face. And then the man imprisoned beside him opted to give up some information about themselves, Lieutenant Commander Ganning. Raising a brow immediately, not out of shock, but rather aggravation. " Bullshit.... "But his protest would go unnoticed for whatever reason as things continued to spiral out of control at least for Sinn. Flicking his tongue off of his teeth he'd fight his restraints still, more so as Dudley was ordered to release "Ganning". Doing his best to lunge and failing, Gungnir would almost snicker as the key to their restraints was dropped into the fire. Let it all burn!Even without him manipulating the flames chaos would unfold as Dudley set himself aflame in mistake of being too loyal and fearful of the Mayor he followed. Twirling about and panicking the giant of a man would knock over the same pyre that had ignited his own robes, casting it down upon the stage and soon the flames took over. The pace of it's power would spread far and wide increasingly until the stage itself began to fall apart. Gritting his teeth in glee as his instincts began to take control, feeling at one in a lit up environment, metaphorically he took energy from the fire surrounding them now. Unclenching his fists he'd aim his fingertips toward his ankle cuffs until soon streams of flames would shoot out, controlled and focused much like a torch. He wasn't the best at such a technique and the heat he could produce meant he still had to wait a few moments for his flames to cut through his restraints, but when they did... Tink....Jumping straight forward he'd avoid falling debris, turning to witness what could have been his downfall before his eyes returned to the blonde restrained man. After all his wrists were still cuffed and furthermore attached to "Ganning". " You're Ganning and I'm the next Pirate King, yeah, we can make up our fairy tale backstories along the way, but I don't think the Marines are going to like your story bub'! "Deciding at the moment it was best to save his fellow prisoner if only to take them in to the Marines for questioning, Gungnir would lurch forward again though this time to rescue "Ganning". Again using his hands to heat up and melt through metal he'd remain mindful of "Ganning's" likely lacking in the department of heat resistance. So instead of removing his chains outright, he'd sever the bonds several links below the cuffs around the man's ankles before dodging more debris by throwing himself to the left. There his eyes locked onto none other than the Mayor who was still trying to decide his exit plan. " I don't know about you blondie, I mean Lieutenant Commander, but I feel like roastin' a piggy! Dudley, the clutz, managed to take them out of the frying pan and into the fire. How he was able to subdue either of them was a mystery, one they'd have to solve later. Staying alive was now the main priority. William dodged some falling debris of his own while his fellow captive spat off.
He thought about beating the flames dead by using his mouthy friend's body as a retardant until he took hold of the chains and caused a break in the links. William looked on, confused, until he noticed molten metal drippings fall where his chains once sealed.
"Interestin'.." He suspected a few things but didn't care to ponder the possibilities. Rather he couldn't. His companion dodged an incoming piece of debris and William followed nearly in unison, only clearing it by inches. His shackled feet were free but not having his hands was going to be troublesome.
To make matters worse his sword was nowhere in sight, but that seedy sack of crap Mayor was. When the tattooed man proposed they have a little fun William looked down at his shackled hands and wiggled his fingers a bit. "Actually I was wonderin' how many 'piggies' I'd need to bore a hole through your skull." He remarked dryly then shifted his gaze to him.
"GUARDS!" The Mayor shouted fearfully and lept from the stage to sprint away. Suddenly three men armed with rifles rushed forth to form a wall in front of the stage. Each planted their weapon into their shoulders and aimed down their sights.
With no time to further undress their shackles, William and Gungnir had to act fast. The stage was due to collapse at any moment and, to add insult to injury, each guard's weapon cracked loud as they fired at the burning stage.

" More piggies than you've got bub'...But you keep your hands to yourself and I'll keep mine to myself, for now? Dragging a body chained to either of us isn't exactly ideal right now! "Having begun replying before the Guards arrived his tone would change as he snapped, bellow in response to guns being cocked and aimed at the pair. Lurching forward he'd grunt, though the chain separating himself and BILLY D. KIDD was long, about 10ft, he felt the tug on it's length. Saving himself from being snapped backward he'd slide down onto his knees, dodging gunfire while drawing back his own gun. Taking aim, Gungnir prepared to open... " FIRE!! "Throwing forward his clenched left hand as he came to a halt on his now skinned knees, Sinn would unleash a spiraling funnel of flames from his fist. In doing so he was targetting one of the three guards in hopes of knocking them backward and setting them aflame much like the stage. But as more wood groaned and splintered amid it burning all the while, Gungnir knew it was time to literally exit the stage. Eyes quickly locking back onto his fellow captive Gungnir would make it obvious that he was throwing himself off of the stage. This was obvious by his backward crawl to leap, his eyes only leaving the blond to make sure he wasn't going to be shot mid-air. Because of this he would go on to clench his right hand this time, ready to unleash another Flame Cannon when need be. NOTES; BILLY D. KIDD MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

William sucked his teeth in defiance but conceded with a shrug. The guy had a point. If he wanted to make it off of High Coast alive he needed to be a team player, at least for the time being. That sentiment was made clearer by the sound of crackling gunfire.
William's companion took low cover to avoid the assault, but not without preparing one of his own. William took cover as well and dashed to a knee, mindful of the chain link between them. Billowy clouds of smoke and cinder crept closer and sought to take the two of them in the passing moments. William braced himself to jump until a sudden flash lit up his periphery.
His accomplice had let loose a powerful jet of flames that he cast an inquisitive look at. In no time the inferno had crashed into one of the armed guards and sent him crashing to the ground. The residual fire marbled across his uniform and burned everything it touched. William watched the man flail uselessly across the ground and try his best to put out the flames, then turned to look elsewhere. Even then, the guard's screams stood out from the pervading commotion like a horrifying beacon.
Devil Fruits weren't uncommon knowledge, but any story he'd heard was a pale comparison to seeing one live and in action. For his own peace of mind, William made a note to pay special attention to his fire-toting friend.
Their eyes met for a brief moment following the attack and William nodded, then leaped as far as he could alongside his fellow captive. They'd hit the ground just in time to meet another flurry of shots, but with no cover to protect them this time.
William ripped the bindings between his own two fetters with no effort and threw a fist forward at the incoming volley. The instant he did there came a resounding boom, one that caused the air to ripple like water. It wasn't precise, but it sent every round off it's trajectory and (more importantly) away from them.
He then looked to his accomplice.
"Light 'em up." Gungnir might've heard the reluctance in his voice.

" Light em' up! "The command or rather the request bellowed out, obviously toward Gugnnir, would snap the Bounty Hunter back into reality. For Gungnir had been completely distracted after witnessing BILLY D. KIDD punch a wall of bullets away, as if he had punched the air itself and the force of the blow sent her reeling enough to redirect the projectiles. Did the guy have a Devil Fruit? Was he part Giant and Elf explaining his average person height? Or was he just a freak of nature?! The thoughts bounced off of the confines of the man's mind even as he finally came to act. Using his readied hand he'd launch another stream of flames, or so he had hoped to. Flaring up into a ball of flames around his hand it'd putter out in a moderate flash as he tried to use his technique again, a tight piercing pain ringing out from the back of his head causing him to wince and nearly sneer in agony. Dudley had hit him hard enough that concentration was going to be hard to maintain for long periods of time for the Bounty Hunter, at least for the time being. " FUCK! Shootin' blanks... "Sprinting toward the burned guard Gungnir would quickly find their back up pistol, ducking and rolling backward on the ground only to pop back up to his feet in a skilled evasion attempt. Then taking aim and firing the pistol at one of the other guards he'd proceed to drop the used firearm, next trying to gather and focus heat at the center of his wrist bonds. With this he'd be able to fight better if he was actually able to use his reach, at least if things came down to a melee, hand-to-hand bout. NOTES; BILLY D. KIDD MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

"Tch." William bit down, frustrated. "Shooting blanks" this deep in enemy territory was a pricey gamble, as was the nature of Devil Fruits. Lucky for him, his scrawny friend could keep up the flow of combat without relying on his quirks.
As he took up the burning man's weapon and fired on another would be assailant, William overtook the distance between himself and the last soldier. As he did the armed guard let off another string of shots. William's eyes stretched wide, not out of fear, but like an owl taking in it's surroundings.
He counted five shots with no particular spread. He's afraid. William judged. Given the distance between them it was all he could do. Thinking only shaved away the precious seconds he had to react, so he did. His unrestrained hand rose to intersect each shot that could have potentially harmed him.
Each clashed into his steel cuff and blinked off into the distance. When the opportunity came to strike down the guard William took it with a single strike that shook the air. The guard's helmet seemed to shatter like glass, his true face exposed but for a moment— the direct hit sent him skidding across the hard earth and out of the battlefield.
A single guard remained that Gungnir may have dealt with. If so, William would turn to him shaking away the stiffness in his knuckles. "That's some skill ya got there. Think you can melt this'n?" He'd lift the hand that bound them together.
But unbeknownst to them, the chain and cuffs that linked them were made of reinforced Seastone that had been coated in metal. They would need to find a key, which was probably still in Dudley's possession.

Dodging another hail of gunfire Gungnir would spit at the ground as he cursed to himself before listening to the blond's request. " Fuckin' wastoids! Heh, heh, I'll try... "Proceeding to reattempt to heat up his hands he'd realize he could only do so with one hand or rather only had the focus or energy to do so? Confused and not giving himself the time to decipher the root reason as to why Gungnir would just go with it, his right hand glowing orange and red, flickering on and off, but soon allowing his on left hand cuff to free the link to his right. Now able to move both hands freely he'd nonetheless remained chained to his fellow captive. Clicking his tongue off of his teeth he'd once again, roll with it as the situation at hand continued to unfold. Then where was the key that kept them together? The key....... Snapping to his left before twirling all the way around multiple times in confusion he'd regain his composure while facing the burning ruins of the stage they had once been imprisoned on. And where the key had been at the last time Gungnir had seen it. But where was Dudley? Hadn't he been burned to a crisp? Was his body in the burning remains of the stage? Was the key there itself? A needle in a burning haystack? " I don't know what's going on with my powers, but they're not reliable....We're going to need the key bub'...But where.... " NOTES; BILLY D. "Hm." William sighed a huff of ire from out his nostrils. Fate seemed content with lobbing him piles of crap at every turn he took. If being chained to a fire wielding madman wasn't enough, that fire was barely useful if at all. Just another day in the office, he japed to himself, then turned to the stage to follow-up Gungnir's observation.
It was more a heap of burning boards than any semblance of what it was. Luckily he knew the key wasn't there. "That freak in the black robes has the key." William spat, his mouth drawn into a hard line. He thought back to when Dudley reached into the brazier and remembered him taking the key before he fell into obscurity.
"Welp. Feel free to tag along. This is a trip you won't wanna miss." He gave Gungnir a frigid glare and then turned to the path that led out of the courtyard, further into the city.
They would have to venture through High Coast and somehow find Dudley. With the day gone and the two of them labeled wanted men, he could only imagine what troubles would greet them along the way.
Word had probably spread, but there could have been pockets in the community that weren't keen on their presence. Finding them could put them on the path to Dudley, and then they'd finally get their recompense with the Mayor. At least he hoped that much was true.
William sighed one last time then started down the path exiting the courtyard.

Feel free to tag along..... As if he had a choice. " As if I had a choice....Plus, I might be some Banefire, but I'm no maniac, I don't like brooding about fire and ash, best to leave the scene and look for that key. "Brushing his dirtied left arm along his mouth, chin, and the bottom of his nostrils/nose Gungnir would wipe away any grit in a bit of redundant action. Rolling his neck as he began to follow William he'd raise his free left hand, flicking his finger tips away from his palm before repeating the action as if to summon forth something. In this case flames of course, though he couldn't muster even a puff of fire or poof of smoke in the least. Though he didn't rely entirely on his powers, it would be bothersome to feign them outright for however long. As they drew to the edge of the exit to the courtyard, Gungnir would only offer the burning mess one last glance as he looked over his right shoulder, eyeing it all with a dull glare. " Just a spark compared to the fire they've put together here tonight! Let's go find that Dudley goober! "Walking on par with William the two would finally exit the courtyard, a swinging door left in their wake. NOTES; BILLY D. KIDD MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

[googlefont="Oswald"][googlefont="Allura"][googlefont="Abel"] TILL' THINGS ARE brighter i'm the man in black William remained silent on their walk into High Coast. The path from the courtyard went on for miles and opened up into what he assumed was the town's commercial district; a slum to be more accurate. Its buildings were made of old red stone and sharp wood, and sat side by side in rows that stretched as far as he could see. Various paths meant for foot travel separated them and led to adjacent streets, and each structure, while unique in design, shared a certain neglect that William likened to aged fruit. There may have been life in them at some point, but it had long gone. Any semblance of what they once were could only be seen in their disheveled husks, or in the piles of crumbled stone and dead oak where they once stood. The territory itself was lacking compared to the gathering from earlier. Every now and then a passerby would cross and disappear into one of the many paths. In the distance William saw a few enter a building but never come out, which piqued his interest. He drew closer and noticed a rotting wood sign atop it's double-door entrance marked in faded paint— "The Watering Hole". A tavern perhaps? There was only one way to find out, and if finding Dudley was the plan he and "Banefire" would need some intel on him. What better place was there than a bar? "I'm sure there's a'couple loose lips in here," William said to Banefire, then stuffed his hand into his pocket to conceal his portion of their shackles. "Best hide these things since we can't clip 'em." Presuming Banefire did the same or something similar he entered the Waterhole, and made sure he stood close so their constraints could not be seen. Inside, the Watering Hole opened up in an oval from the entrance and on every side there were a pretty good amount people, mostly drinking and keeping to themselves. Of note, there was a thin man1 with a salty expression behind the bar on the far side of the entrance, going through all the motions befit a bartender. At a table to their right was a gorgeous woman2 smoking a pipe over a card game with three men, and to their left a biped Mink3 no taller than two feet stood in his chair lapping at a cup filled with amber liquid. The aloof look in his eyes could have meant anything, but William assumed he was either drunk or bored. "I'm 'onna follow yer lead on this'n," William said out the corner of his mouth. SWANSKI

Well...I aint trustin' no shit slinging bartender from this town....Having already drawn his own sleeves to aide in hiding his own portion of he and William's shared shackles, Gungnir would lead the pair toward the small Mink. Biting his lip and chewing on it his eyes would dance about the low run tavern, a smoking woman playing cards catching his eyes before they returned to the sight of the thin typical looking bartender. Scratching the back of his head with his free hand, he'd take in a deep breath before exhaling, dedicating himself to his choice finally. Hey...ahem...I mean...Hello, I'm not from around here, could you help me out maybe? Me and my buddy here are a bit lost, you see we lost track of our...uh...special cousin, big ol' fella', he hurt himself on accident and ran away in the chaos, you see...he kinda' burned himself with some boiling water....we're so worried about him....Maybe you saw him shambling about?!Sliding his free hand through his loose black locks, Gungnir would let out another audible sigh, trying to play up the story he had chosen to bullshit through.
