The ending of the navy festival at Marineford concluded for Summers on a low note. She witnessed the wrath of a higher ranked male official scrutinizing lower ranked navy soldiers and it made her sick to her stomach. The man, as punishment, ripped off the ear of one drinking man in the crowd and a rowdy woman calling out the navy on possible recruitment tactics. She wasn't sure what it was about completely but to see the man's hands go and take their ears off made her high tail it out of the festival area. She spent the rest of the night in her room cowering in fear only to be forced in the morning to report to her usual post. This place was a library just outside of Marine Headquarters where lesser books and texts were on display for incoming readers.
Her job as an archaeologist was to offer them these books as they needed them but today she did not feel like it instead she curled up behind a thick brown backed archive and let her legs hang out under an oak desk built six feet tall to accommodate them. She wore a white petticoat underneath a blue and white brass-buttoned marine coat and had on a white skirt that reached to her with a pair of tan boots. She was the perfect example of a non-combatant in spite of where she was. Not a single scar covered her face nor any other part of her body but she sported the mark of a slave with its circle and three pronged triangles just below her bust beneath her coat.
She was normally very talkative and open but the fiasco she witnessed at the festival now made her a little wary of her job and the organization she worked for. She had been a very low ranking marine officer for two years but in spite of a sizable stipend from the marines and her father had yet to advance above a warrant officer. She was afraid to, especially now, even though she felt she had more then enough money to organize a ship and entice a crew. She had seen first hand today for certain that the marines were a heavily male leaning group. She could understand the rowdy woman's desire maybe for more recruitment of women cadets (if that is what she had wanted) but Summers at this point could never see herself running a ship.
She couldn't dole out the kind of punishment necessary she felt, keep everyone happy and most importantly alive. She knew this as she fingered through her book with her left hand not caring for the pages within. All this was meant to do was keep her walled in her own mind and not potentially causing an outburst of her own at her job here. Her only reason for being here was to ensure Devil Fruits, relics and the like got catalogued even though she knew she had been to quite a few ruins in the past already to gather said items.

The importance of going to the ruins of lost civilizations was important to her because that meant she had seen a few of the items already in this building and knew of their purposes on various levels. The problem was she wanted to see more of the world. Yet without a marine ship to captain she was stuck at Marineford until a higher up member of the navy gave her the okay to leave. Thanks to the fact they were recruiting, she felt she had a chance but she needed to make sure she had a good crew and understood the kinds of boats she wished to travel in. The problem with that was she could neither find a good crew nor understand the book before her. It was actually an advanced navy ship manual but nothing in it was making sense to her, which is why she was also skimming its pages more now as she realized she should probably focus on her work more and not let her mind wander.
She continued to read for about an hour until she got tired. It was at this point the footsteps of heavy boots reached her ears. A boisterous voice rang out in the library and with that she dropped her book. One was not supposed to yell in the but the sound, "Anybody home!" reached her ears from the entrance.
A normal sized human marine and four of his buddies wandered into the library looking to cause some noise and trouble. On each of their arms was a clingy female marine with their hair down. It looked like they had come from the party Summers wished to forget for the males had their jackets wide open and weren't wearing shirts underneath. A vein popped in Summer's head as she looked over the edge of her book and witnessed them bring bottles of booze into the building in their hands.
"God dammit," she thought to herself, "They're breaking so many rules. I'm no good at doling out punishment but for these fools I might as well."
"Nobody's in here!" the leader with a loud voice shouted to his fellow marines.
"Looks good for a place to hang out, much less stuffy then that stupid courtyard." A female marine with sunglasses clinging to his arm stated. She and a number of the girls were wearing their jackets open but had bikinis underneath. She took a step forward but in her time doing stumbled and dropped a bottle of booze. The liquid spilled on the floor and in a range Summers pulled her seat out and used her abnormal speed to run over pull, out a hankerchief and sop it up.
All the marines watching were quite surprised for the time was very early in the morning and they expected no one around. She wasn't sure how they got in but figured that someone, mainly her, forgot to keep an eye on the door of the building. They glared at her and in shock of her huge legs and overall size stepped back.
"Who-who the hell are you giant wo-woman!" the leader of the group cried.
"I'm here to punish you now that you've messed up this library's floors." Summers stated with a wicked smile on her face. "You're such a cute group to come in and defile the building entrance." She then rose to her full height and at twelve feet tall overshadowed the whole group.
"She-she's the librarian here I think we need to leave!" The woman with sunglasses stated, however as she turned tail to run a sharp, quick kick from Summers' tan boots knocked her out the door. This woman landed on her face outside the door causing the whole group to quickly back up as Summers used what speed she had to duck down and advance slapping the rest of the group across their faces as she passed through them. They were just ordinary marines though so her light hits from here hands barely phased them.
"What was that supposed to be you bimbo, you nerd?" The loudest of the marines asked as he rubbed his face and turned to face her back. "You got my woman good but I'm going to hurt you now!"
Summers kicked back behind her but the man dodged and instead she hit a pocket of air where he had been the marine then jumped over her leg as she tried spinning around to sweep him off his feet. She instead found he had jumped and three of the marines with him got hit instead but her sudden attack. She now felt something heavy on her leg finding as she craned her neck that her target was balancing on her shin with perfect ease.
"You got some nice legs lady. I find that quite attractive. Perhaps I should let you off and make you my woman."
Summers shook her head no and uttered, "Great compliment. I love getting them but you aren't getting off the hook that way. I'm going to make you and your whole group mine. Got that! You'll work for me when I put your sorry butts under my feet." Summers retorted while retracting her leg. The man dropped to the ground and attempted to fly forward and punch her from behind but her strong legs allowed her to do a quick back flip over his head. She landed on the floor with a loud "Thud!" and then with one swift kick knocked him to the floor and slammed her right foot down upon his back.
"ARGH!" she heard him scream whereupon she put more pressure on his back and she stated as his fellow marines looked on, "I'm done toying with you lot. I'm not sure I can crush your leader's spine or not but my boots and body are very heavy. They'll not be like my light slaps before. If you don't want to see him hurt more go ahead and surrender to me. Once you do you are to report to me from now on and not break the code of this library."
"Why-why should we listen to you," The loud marine growled at her from underfoot.
"You're getting crushed, your marines will soon, and I have the authority of a warrant officer. I'm not scary like an admiral so I can't make you listen by whatever forces they use but you will listen. I want you to leave for today and come back here at a proper time at 8 am sharp. If you don't I'll definitely tell my superiors." She explained before releasing her captive from underfoot.
The marines stopped their rowdiness and soon exited the library dragging with them the woman with sunglasses and her loud boyfriend once Summers released him. They also grabbed the three other injured marines too. Their all look back at Summers in the doorway of the building solidified the fact that she was higher rank then them as they were all just recruits. They could tell just by how they had been beaten in this situation. She definitely wasn't the strongest marine around but with her relative height and speed they swore never to mess with her or the building and promised to report back to her as ordered.
Summers smiled and although the floors suffered a little damage from the booze her troublemakers dropped they weren't irreparable. She hoped nobody did this again though as a smile came across her face and she realized she did have some small authority around here for what it was worth.
