The broken schooner that carried the three wayward men had succeed in what it was tasked to do, and just in time too. Limping into the crystal blue waters of the shallow bay, the vessel looked like it would fall apart at any moment. It was now barely worth the time spent to salvage it. Marlo slowly rose from his resting position with a slight grimace on his face. Crouching for so long had made his bones ache and muscles tight. A stiff leap off the side of the schooner landed him in knee deep water, and with a hand raised to his forehead he shielded the beaming sunlight to survey their location with keen inspection. He knew the islands across the Grand Line were almost always dangerous in one way or another, especially those that looked uninhabited. And from the moment this island came into view Marlo was certain it would be no exception. The island was small but long with a rocky shoreline. A great peninsula prevented easy access to its mainland with the only way to get onto the island being through one the of beaches. It didn't take them long to search for a bay to harbour in, and when they docked they were met with a black sand beach as dark as the cloud that hovered above the island. Marlo had assumed it was smoke on approach but it wasn't until he got closer and the ashy scent entered his nose that he knew for sure. Wading through the calm shallows he noticed the water was warm against his legs, no reprieve from the sun that baked his face and neck. As the soles of his John Bull Pythons touched down upon the black sand he was struck with more heat. The tide rolled onto the shore creating clouds of steam that rose when the sand collided with the cooler waters causing a hot mist to settle over the beach. Every step from his wet shoes caused the sand to sizzle below until the moisture completely evaporated. "This place seems...interesting" he said with a droll tone looking back at the others who had just exited the water. Marlo thought it best to get off the beach and out of the sun so he signaled to the others to follow him as he made his way towards the forest. His mind turned to survival and he knew they needed to find drinking water and food soon or they would have no energy for anything else. Marlo thought of Charles for a moment and wondered if he needed any sustenance at all. Making his way off the beach Marlo found no repentance from the heat in the shade of the forests canopy. Wiping sweat from his brow a smokey warmth still enveloped him even in the shade. Exhausted he walked over to a tree and rested his forearm across its trunk. For a moment he relaxed but slowly his forearm started to get hotter and hotter until it felt like it was burning. Marlo leapt back in surprise swinging his arm around. "Even the damn trees are hot here!" he protested. In that moment he released a large sigh and let his legs drop to the ground into a sitting position. He was tired, thirsty, hungry and now trapped on an uninhabited island that was out to scorch him to death with two strangers he hitched a ride with. Marlo nearly laughed aloud at that thought. Sometimes he wondered how he got himself into these situations and questioned whether even his mother would have enjoyed the painful randomness of it all. She would have found a way he mused, closing his eyes for a moment, enjoying the relative calm the darkness brought. When he opened them again he looked out and saw something that he had previously missed. An old wooden sign shaped like an arrow pegged into the dark sandy earth. It's post was covered in green vines and the signs edges burnt away but the worn lettering was clear enough: Firefield Island. Chapped lips curled into a half-hearted smile. "It looks like this place isn't deserted after all" he said raising his arms up before pointing across to the sign. He only hoped that whoever made the sign wasn't already dead. Ivory digits gripped the railling of their schooner as he leaped into warm, shallow water beneath them. It was surprising how warm this water was; he thought back to the icy cold depths of Kuraigana, deep diving to spear fish and expand his lung capacity. Everything about this island emanated with intense heat; the black sand on the beach sizzling with each step, and even tree bark hot to the touch as if it were a cast iron hot off the stove. Marlo wasn't the only one letting the heat get to him, as he fell to the ground, exhausted and seemingly giving up. Hector was irritated by the intense heat and his lack of control over the situation. His pale flesh flushed with heat, while sweat beaded on his brow and matted his hair in the process. Before it could get any worse he plucked a hair tie from his wrist and twisted his luscious red locks into a bun. While his eyes shifted towards Charles, he let out an anxious laugh. " Well if we can't find anything to eat, we could always," he paused leaning towards Marlo with a whisper, " eat the zombie." As if Charles couldn't hear him at this distance, with his thumb gestured in his direction; dude was losing his mind in this heat. " I mean, his flesh is mostly rotten, but if we cook it. Before the conversation could continue, Marlo pointed out a sign in the distance that they had clearly missed. ' Firefield Island, huh?' Man, Hector was fucking starving at this point, he hadn't eaten for days and spewed anything else up on the trip over. An angry, delusional cyborg with a sword and a double-barreled flintlock is hardly anyone's dream come true. Any rational person would be worried for their safety in the presence of this erratic, immoral criminal. Before either of the two could say a word—not that Charles could anyways—Hector bolted off down the marked path, leaving the others in a cloud of hot, ashy dust. Even though Marlo could match his speed, there was no way he was prepared for this. And following after him, they'd soon realized that the dumbass strayed from the marked path. He wasn't one for direction, though he somehow managed maneuver ruins without any issue. Maybe it was the aimlessness combined with reckless abandonment of any sense of security that truly led him. A gut feeling at best. As the swordsman pushed through thick brush, he could feel the plant limbs gently burning him with each stroke. It just made him mad. He stepped back, dusting the debris from his clothes in a panicked state before he backed up. A burst of speed left a trail of afterimages, unveiling a sword strike that leveled a huge area of forest in front of him, toppling several trees in the process. If I were a local on this isolated and unwelcoming island, I'd surely see the destruction as an attack. Or better yet an act of war. Of course, Hector was oblivious to any potential consequences, he rarely acknowledged the horrendous results of his actions as his own responsibility. In his eyes, he had to keep living instead of dwelling on the past, even if that past was filled with death and destruction left in his wake. By now his comrades had surely figured out where Hector was, though Hector couldn't even figure out where he was. His stomach was grumbling, but a savory smell drifted through the air. As it reached the cyborg, it curled into a hand and stuck its finger up his nose, as if to drag him in that direction. Something was cooking, and it smelled fucking delicious. Lord have mercy on anyone trying to get in his way. MADE BY VEL OF GS

From the first moment his feet plunged into the toasty water, a growing drop had begun to tug at Charlie's gullet. Some deep down instinct, some feeling, some wild intuition told the corpse something was amiss on this island they'd washed up on, but what exactly it was he couldn't know for sure. His nerves had long since sizzled away so it was a no wonder the zombie waltzed onto the blackened sand with little less than a passing glance at his miserable companions. From what he could tell, the blistering sun wasted no time in setting on the other two humans. Hector had already taken to a puddled mess while Marlo found himself red beneath the forest's canopy.
At Hector's remark Charlie did little to respond to the redfaced ginger but shoot a middle finger in his direction. There were no words - if he could speak - that needed to be said to the bastard. Hector was a distressed mess in the blaze of the island while zombie Charles couldn't feel even the slightest bits of the extreme weather.
Before he nor Marlo could even move, the redheaded chump of the group set off on a mad dash into the forest. He'd always been erratic, to begin with, but just minutes upon arriving on the beach and the desolate sands had already taken their toll on him. Charlie made no movements to keep after the man as he knew all too well his old friend would make his location known before long. So, his eyes drifted elsewhere, his dead, unblinking stare cast over the expanse of black sands and steaming vegetation that spread out before the trio. The trees took an auburn hue as opposed to the lush greens one would typically find on any island. The sand's ebony color came off as more sooty than anything else, though still held the appearance of sand as Hector darted off. Charlie dropped to a knee as a rugged hand scooped at a clump of the ashen sands. He held it close to his eyes, sifting the minerals between his digits before there wasn't but a single black crystal left in his grasp. In it's wake, the doctor was surprised to find a grayed dust where the sand had once laid in his hand. It wasn't sand at all, this was a beach of graphite. His brow perked at the finding, but it wasn't until Marlo unearthed the sign giving a name to the island that Charlie's unbeating heart gave a thump.
It was just speculation for a brief moment, but visions flashed of his time inside the cage. The box that he'd never in any life go back to. Why his mind drifted there he couldn't quite wrap his head around, but Charles knew something about this island just didn't sit well with him.
He'd spent so much time playing in the sand that the sudden boom of falling trees struck a twinge of alert through his body. When he looked up to find Hector still nowhere to be seen, he'd lock eyes with Marlo and give a head shake that read "we need to find him."
A few strides carried the monster over to the clearing of downed trees, but there wasn't the slightest bit of signs of Hector. The cyborg was a brash, insensitive, non-thinking kind of stupid, but they hadn't been on the island a whole fifteen minutes and it seemed he was already throwing the troupe into a state of disarray. Hector needed to be found. With all the extreme conditions they'd come to find just at the beach, there was no telling what the actual island was like.

His wry smile twisted into a more honest one as he sniggered at Hectors remark before shooting a glance over to Charles who pulled the finger in reply. Marlo was quickly coming to understand that these two would be a handful, and also that their relationship was a complicated one. He observed their interactions with interest, albeit a quiet interest, as he introspectioned on what circumstances could have caused their meeting. Curiousity swept his mind towards prying, but he wouldn't push it. These types of things tended to have a way of coming out anyway he told himself.
Marlo pushed his legs out straight in the ashy dirt allowing his hands to fish through his pockets for a cigarette. With a manky excuse for a cigarette pinched between his fingers he looked up to suddenly find Hector missing. "Where's he...?" Marlo said with a bemused look on his face before waving himself off. There was no point in asking a question like that to Charles, and besides he was more interested in the sandy dirt than anything he had to say. Marlo stood up and lightly pushed his cigarette against the trunk of a nearby tree, waiting a few moments, watching as the end ignited. Nifty, he thought. This island had some perks after all.
Marlo stood puffing away on his cigarette watching Charles. The zombie soon gave him a head shake that signalled they should go after Hector. Marlo signalled back to him waving his arm across his body as if to say "go right ahead".
Charles leapt from his position and Marlo quickly followed, keeping up with his movements with ease while continually puffing away, content with his tobacco. It wouldn't be difficult for them to find Hector, he couldn't have given more clear indication than the downed forest he left in his wake. Marlo decided that Hector was a bit unhinged and crazy, but contemplated whether it was due to the fact he hadn't eaten in days. Marlo was starting to feel he was going that way himself.
Moving through the red-haired cyborgs destruction Marlo couldn't help but notice the felded trees were ignited in flames. It appeared as though the scorched wood would burn indefinitely, a truly strange and unique vegetation to say the least. Through the thick scent of smoke and ash Marlo began to pick up the wafting smell of something more appealing—food. When they'd finally caught up to Hector the scene took Marlo off-guard. Once again he let out a small laugh, finding the energy between the grumbles of his stomach. But this time it was a laugh more in astonishment than anything else.

" Whats good ya lil bitch?" Towering over a small child with tribal face tattoos, the red-maned cyclops emanated an aura of murderous intent. It felt as though his stomach acids had begun devouring his stomach from the inside out; he couldn't even remember the last thing he ate. Fuck, he'd eat this child if he had too. Not that he'd enjoy it, but survival is priority number one. A thinly rolled cigarette hung from the edge of his lip, smoke trailing off like every sound in earshot. It was silent. Hector side-eyed the lizards roasting over the fire beside them, this was the same scent that dragged him here and he would be damned if he was going to give up now. " Fork over the lizards, if you know what's good for you." Shit, he wasn't even sure if the child spoke the same dialect. That was hardly the problem, still, the child stared at him silently. Not a single response. Just deep black eyes that peered into the depths of his soul. Hector's face was blank; edging closer to the fire he snatched a skewer. The world around him disappeared and all he could see was this roasted reptile, fuck, his mouth was watering. Leaning in for the killing blow he could almost feel his teeth ripping its flesh apart, but a fatal blow snapped him back to reality. The child before lifted his foot with such speed and power that when he found his leather boot planted in Hector's nuts, it felt as though they were exploding up through his stomach. Planting face first in the dirt, he heaved for air, an actual teardrop forming at the corner of his eye. The world around him went black again, though this time it was the feeling of self-destruction and despair. Nevermind the first-degree burns on his face from the fucking sand, he was going to send this child back to his mother's womb and kill them both in one fell swoop. This tainted fucking hellspawn was going to rot in the earth if Hector could help it. Hell, if he could find his center of gravity again. Planting each hand, firmly, and one at a time, he struggled to lift himself from the ground. His mind flashed to the burnt skewer in the dirt, and he was so fucking hungry he could barely think. In fact he snatched it at his first chance and shoved the entire thing into his mouth, nearly choking on the unchewed, boned reptilian. " So... fucking... delicious" he garbled between bites, tears of joy flooding from one eye. By this point, he was fucked. The child's screams for help had been answered by a large, half-naked man with a spear in his hand. He stood over Hector, shouting in a strange language. "Umeshambulia mtoto wangu, monster." Strangely enough, the redhead leaned back calmly, replying in a butchered form of the native's language. " Samahani, nilikuwa njaa sana na nikifukuzwa." By now his two accomplices were surely confused, what in the fuck was going on? MADE BY VEL OF GS

To say Charles 'The Undead' Vane was beyond confused was an understatement as he rolled into the wake of Hector's ravaging. With trees splattered about the clearing but the man nowhere to be seen, Charlie gave a wonder as to whether or not the man had up and vanished into thin air...up until the vicious sounds of crunching ripped through his undead ears. The thunderous boom of a pair being split straight to hell sounded from just beyond the clearing where the duo stood and so Charlie was off. He bolted without so much as a glance at Marlo, bounding over downed trees to hunt down the friend he so desperately wished he didn't have.
Whatever Hector had gotten himself into was beyond the zombie as he strolled upon the scene. From what he could gather, either Hector was about to feel the early stages of an asswhopping or it was sure to come. As Charlie's dead eyes landed on the spear clutching behemoth, flames of pure shadow burst to life from his fists, the dead man shooting forward from his partner's wreckage with the intent to kill.
But, just as soon as he'd jumped into battle would the man's will to fight fizzle. Hector...Hector seemed to speak whatever jumble of a language slipped from the behemoth's tongue. The puzzling look that passed over Charlie's face didn't last long as the flames of hell fizzled away from his digits with a lonely hiss. He eyed the situation ever so fiercely, awaiting whatever comment Marlo would weigh in with.

Marlo had trailed Charles for the duration of their adventure through Hector's destruction. Landing in a clearing, with a cigarette hanging precariously from the edge of his lips, the words he spoke rang true. Just what Hector was saying he didn't know, but it sounded impressive and almost like what the drunks used to sound like at the local tavern before they were thrown out. Did he really speak their language? If not, he was managing to do a good job of faking it as Marlo observed the natives seemingly responding. But he hadn't won over the big one completely yet.
Standing over the red-maned maniac was a man thrice his size and width. With skin the colour of ebony black, as if carved from charcoal and hands large enough to palm a boulder, he stood over their companion, spear in hand with a fierce look in his eye. A flashback to Scrap Island with an image of Hector hurtling down a trash mountain came to the forefront of his mind. It seemed he had a real penchant for getting himself into trouble.
Marlo's own emerald pools blinks a couple of times as he glanced over the situation. It didn't take much processing to figure out what was going on; Hector had disrupted their meal and was now paying the price for it. But in that moment he swayed as his nose inhaled the glorious smell of cooked meat and his body reacted viscerally; mind thumped and stomach growling like cornered dog.
While Charles jumped to Hectors defence, once again igniting himself with that mysterious flame of his, Marlo had no such concern. These guys had already proven they could handle themselves in a fight, and besides, he hadn't quite grown that kind of attachment to his two travelling buddies just yet. Instead his vision narrowed in on the fire, skewers, and meat. The behemoth and his child could do their worst to him but there was no one stopping him from eating that meat. In all honestly he doubted if they even could stop him.
Marlo sauntered over to where Hector lay on his back and where the campfire crackled away, his hunger more desperate than he would let on. Bending down with unrelenting confidence he snatched two skewers with a fat lizard singed on each and began to eat.
"hey Hector, tell'em thanks for the grub an ask if they've got'ny more." Marlo was unsure if he had been understood with his mouth packed full of meat, but he didn't overly care, he was in his happy place now.

It was good to know they had his back, even if, for the moment, it wasn't needed. Even still, the display of power drove the natives to their knees. In their strange dialect, they referred to Charles as a god, mistaking his hell flames for the same flames that erupted from their Mountain God. In other words a volcano. It was clear that their lack of technological advancement was due to an archaic lifestyle. The archaeologist in him wonder how they could preserve their culture for such a long time without outside influence. As he apologized for the meal and explained their escape from the "warriors in white", he came to realize that his assumption were wrong. The spear-wielding tribesman spoke of the men in the mountain, white angels of the Mountain God who took monthly sacrifices to appease their god. They took food, valuable resources, men, women and children; though Hector knew immediately that these were delegates of the World Government likely experimenting on these "sacrifices". " It seems there's a team of world gov' scientists here, excavating the volcano. Whatever they're doing, they've been taking human sacrifices from the village and volcanic activity has been highly active lately. Also, Charles, they think you're a god. Don't let your head explode." The explanation was a brief summary of what lay in store for the three musketeers. It seemed pretty clear to him what they had to do. The chances of them finding another island outside the scope of the World Government was unlikely, especially after the events of the prisonbreak. Hector failed to see his glaringly obvious bias, a deep-seated hatred for the scientists who had taken him in as an experiment. Feelings aside, he wanted to destroy their labs and liberate the natives of this island—who'd become subject to the cruel and abusive experiments of the world elites. MADE BY VEL OF GS

At one point in time Charles had been more than impressed with the various languages and cultures etched into Hector's psyche. The man held a tongue of many dialects, able to spew facts on just about any location on the Grand Line. As poor a job he did showing it, the ruby haired rogue was quite the scholar.
Charlie paid little mind to the mere mortals who rushed for the food scraps of the barbarians. Instead, his eyes drifted upward to the volcano in question, his ashen stare scanning the mass for oddities. From so far out there was nothing out of the ordinary to the volcano that could tip the trio to a World Government presence so it seemed they'd have to investigate. What edged the zombie nearer to curiosity was what exactly could scientists have been doing way out on this secluded island. Thoughts ran rampant in the corpse's mind of the situation at hand. From their first moments on the island it was apparent there was some intense level of human tinkering at hand, but things just weren't adding up for the male.
He eyed his cohorts as they chewed away at their meal, keeping a close watch on the lowly mortals who assumed he was a god. Such simple minds disgusted the doctor and in any other situation he would've flexed his hellish flames in a flamboyant show that would've scared them away, but there were bigger matters to take care of.
The two jailbirds had spent the better part of an eternity within the confines of a remote laboratory; lab rats to the white coats who threatened to never show them the light. Whatever atrocities were being committed had to be snuffed out by none other than himself, not for justice, but just to throw a massive middle finger to the whitest coat of all. With a last glance at the volcano, Charlie made his way over to the group, his right hand flying into a whirl of signs and symbols. Hector already knew what the zombie would want, but Marlo needed a bit of filling in. "We're gonna fuck it up. Let's go."

It was all coming to a head as Marlo ripped flesh from bone, chewing away on his roasted morsels. Wide emerald eyes gazed at the tribesmen and Hector with a childlike curiosity but yet almost off into the distance, as if he wasn't paying that much attention. But to the contrary he was listening with intent, his body arched forward akin to dog's ears pricked up at the sound of a whistle.
The whole exchange was quite impressive, he thought. He wouldn't have believed Hector if he hadn't seen it for himself and no matter how roguish his demeanour, this was a clear indication there was much more than met the eye. Hector relayed what the natives were talking about and Marlo mulled it over in his head. He felt his strength returning as the meat settled in his stomach and contemplated on what a simple meal could accomplish.
Licking greasy fingers he craned his neck towards Charles whose manner had changed, the only real change Marlo had noticed since they'd set sail from Scrap Island. Marlo noted the cursory glance towards Hector when World Government scientists were brought up. There was something in that, Marlo regarded, something that agitated his two companions. Swallowing the last of his meat thunderously he couldn't help but get an inkling that travelling up that Volcano would reveal something meaningful for them two.
Charles walked over, his hands forming seals and signals that Hector appeared to pick up immediately. Surprisingly Marlo got the gist of it too and he nodded reassuringly. His father was a stern man, not prone to speaking bullshit, and well, not prone to speaking much at all. In that respect Charles reminded Marlo of him. His whole life had been spent deciphering what his father meant from a glance or gesture, either to avoid a flogging or to interpret the subtle love of a battle-hardened father. He missed it, and he wouldn't have to miss it if it wasn't for the World Government.
Spying a pig sack lying on the ground near the fire, he walked over and popped its cork top gushing water over his face and into his mouth before throwing it to Hector. Marlo closed his eyes and took a deep breath pausing for a moment. Returning his gaze back to the group his eyes had a new shine to them, with lips revealing a white toothed smile.
"Alright then, lets do this!"

" Something about this doesn't feel right." No, it wasn't the fucking dirty lizard he just swallowed whole, but it was a gut feeling. The fact that the World Government saw the need to set up a facility here meant there was something powerful just within their reach. He feared the worst, that whatever it was had already come to fruition and their efforts would go in vain. Nonetheless, he held a deep, personal resolve to fight the efforts of this evil and corrupt world entity. They had completely disregarded the lives of the natives as something equal to trash, abusing their ignorance and taking them as sacrifice to their weaponizing experiments. Hector caught the flask but his gaze remained heavy on the ground, lost in thought. The fresh water brought him back to livelihood, washing away his scorched throat with renewed vigor. The cyborg stood quickly and collected his things, strapping his broadsword to his back, he tipped the pigskin sack and poured the last of the water over his head. " You didn't need any anyways, right?" he explained to Charles, dropping the lifeless sack in the dirt. After some parting words with his new friends, Hector began to lead the way through some brush behind them. It was extremely dense, and the branches were so hot they lightly burned to the touch. After an agonizing eternity, they made it to a clearing where a trail climbed high into the mountain before them. " The main entrance to the facility is on the outside, but Brandon said that his ancestors built secret caverns that he found connect to the lab from inside the volcano." It seemed better than them charging in the front door gung-ho and risking it all, as much as the thought tempted him. Splitting off from the main trail, Hector led them up a steep ravine of obsidian-like black rock that shot from the mountain like jagged spears. The higher they climbed the glass-like rock turned to volcanic rock that radiated heat, it felt like a sauna outside, he could only imagine what the inside of the volcano felt like. Just like that he stepped through the mouth of a cave, lava had dripped down to form teeth-like volcanic rock above the entrance. Steam filled the cavernous passage, hampering their vision slightly. Hector unsheathed Basilisk, clutching it at with both hands as he edged further into the darkness. They would need some kind of light soon, his eye drifted to Charles with a suggestive nod. Hell flames were an appropriate anology for their conquest, foolish to what lay ahead as they tread further into Mordor. MADE BY VEL OF GS

There were far too many possibilities for what the World Government could've been doing on this island of savages. An island void of intelligent life was the perfect location for those big brains who wanted to stay under the radar. There'd be no sneaking around property by the brutes of the land, no worrying about nosey locals snooping where they didn't belong. In Charles's cold dead eyes, there was nowhere better to conduct dirty business. Here out of the eye of the mass public, the vile lab heads could get away with whatever they liked.
But for what...just what in the hell were they after?
Charles had grown so deep in thought along the long trek up the mountain that his entire person seemed to fade to thought. Nothing existed in the physical space before the man and nothing would. To the zombie, there were only thoughts and theories, but without all the factors he was lost. The island bore such an extremely harsh climate made even more so by the active volcano that the number of possible resources to harvest was nill.
It wasn’t until they’d entered the maw of the cave that Charles suddenly snapped back to the physical plane. Unlike his two mortal companions, the doctor couldn’t feel the warmth of their surroundings unless he truly willed it and even then it wasn’t the same. As he allowed his sense of touch to flicker to life, the coal headed man felt the ever faintly flicks of warm air grace his visage. It took less than a second for waves of thought to wash over the male once more, only this time his focus was leagues sharper than before.
This wave of heat that breathed in the groups face like a beast was by no means stemming from the volcano. Like much of the constructs they seemed to be running into on the island, the heat too didn’t feel as though it came from the volcano. It came from a machine. That much Charlie was sure of as the faint smell of burning machinery wafted into his nostrils. He readied a march forward, but as soon as he’d done so, Charles immediately stopped in his tracks, his right hand alighting with flames as dark as the cave walls.
There was no warning to his actions, no que to alert the other two right away, but it wouldn’t take long for them to feel it. The far off rumbling that built from somewhere down in the cave. A quake…a stampede...or a beast, who in the hell knew what was going on down at the base of the cave.

Through dense brush and a burning forest they traveled until finally coming to a clearing. The grand volcano that resided at the center of the island was both terrifying and awe-inspiring at the same time, its ancient presence dominating the landscape around it. Marlo launched a quick glance upward, testing his eyes against the blearily hot sun only to catch a glimpse at its apex. Thick smoke smoldered out from its top reminding him of the vast factory chimneys from Drum Island.
Hector had taken the lead and managed to find a secret cavern entrance told to him by the natives. Marlo calmly followed his lead, the three of them setting a quick pace as they darted across to the mountain, scaling its side easily. Marlo thought this the best situation, stay out of sight and enter through an inconspicuous entrance, for as much as the three of them rated themselves they didn't quite know who their enemy was yet.
Coming to the caverns entrance Marlo truly felt like he was stepping back in time. Breaching the entrance of the cave he delved into shadow as the heat hit him instantly, its sticky steam sliding its way through his clothing and hair. Each breath wrenched at his lungs with thick and humid air. He didn't really think about it at the time, but looking back Marlo was thankful he indulged on the sack of water earlier.
"Oi, ah.." he said with hesitation. It seemed as though his two companions were going to take the lead on this one but something still teared at him. "So what now? Are we just gonna walk through the volcano's tunnels until we find something?"
Merely uttering the words made him cringe slightly. Over the last two years Marlo had planned his missions meticulously. Sure, he could improvise, he did improvise on those missions, but only when the situation changed. He was all for spontaneity and acting on the fly, but walking into the center of a volcano with no prior knowledge made him weary. He could feel the control he enjoyed over the past two years eroding the longer he stayed with Hector and Charles. He was starting to wonder if that was even a bad thing...
In an instant and with no warning Charles ignited a dark flame from his dead fingers. Its light, although minimal and not like that of a regular flame, cast itself on the caverns walls giving them some kind of presence in the dark, hot steam. Marlo wondered how deep these caverns ran and how varied the tunnels were. It would be easy to get lost in here, he realised, and Charles was the only person he could think of that could survive in a place like this if that were the case.
Marlo gulped and pressed his hand against the wall. It was hot, like everything else on this damn island and he quickly drew his hand back pissed off about it all. However he sensed something in that moment. A vibration? No, it wasn't as simple as that he thought. It seemed like the earth itself was about to scream.
"Hey do you guys feel that?" Marlo said putting the question to the group. He didn't know if it was his imagination or not but whatever it was it felt like it was getting closer.

" What is this, a fucking petting zoo?" Hector seemed entirely unamused with the stampede of yoked animals charging towards them. They looked like someone had fed them a steady diet of crack and steroids for three years straight, even then shit seemed off; they were entirely consumed with rage. This overflowing hatred seemed to target the intruders, our favorite heroes as they sought to quell oppression. Upon closer inspection, the cyborg noticed a strange gleam of light coming from their necks. This, of course, was a steel collar with a green light in the middle, likely some type of mind-control device. These poor fucking animals were taken against their will and used as puppets in a play written by a sick and twisted god. It was weird, but it also made him kinda hungry. Withdrawing Basilisk, he pulled hard on her trigger, turning the broadsword into a segmented sword-whip. He reached behind him letting the sword extend to full length before he pulled forward hard, snapping his wrist at the end of its trajectory. Unbeknownst to this oblivious fuck, his sword hit the ceiling of the cave with such force it cracked the whole thing wide open. A twelve-foot sword-whip made of diamond-like Seastone was hardly an appropriate weapon for this small, enclosed space. A loud crack echoed from his whip and the stampede slid to a halt, instinct taking over if but for a moment. Behind the red-maned swordsman, giant rocks fell from the ceiling of the cave, closing him off at the split. While Hector had somehow landed beside him, Marlo was nowhere to be seen. " Uh... hopefully he didn't get crushed..." He knew he fucked up, you could hear it in his voice, but there wasn't much to do about it now. One foot planted so firmly into the molten rock beneath him it left an imprint as he leaped off its surface, mounting a hulked out zebra in the process. While it bucked and kicked and threw its weight in every which direction, trying to hurl him off, he clung to that steel collar. Slowly, he pulled himself towards it, straddling the torso of the beast with his legs. When he finally had enough leverage, he ripped the damn thing right off its neck. Immediately, the beast went from a state of anger to one of confusion and fear. As Hector slid off its back, it kicked him right in the gut, launched him into the wall of the cave and bolted in the opposite direction. ' One down.' he thought proudly, ignoring the massive crowd of angry animals ready to trample and devour him. Retracting his blade to a closer range, he held it between him and the enemy's party. He felt relieved enough to save one of the animals' life, he felt accomplished enough to slaughter the rest if he had to. He had done his good deed for the day. Just what in the fuck were they getting themselves into? MADE BY VEL OF GS

"NO!" the raspy croak of Charlie's broken voice was the last sound that split the ears of the cave dwellers as Hector rose his sword hand.
By the time he spoke up, things were too late and the wild redheads arm was already in motion. The immediate tumbling of cave rock threatened to squash the trio of vagabonds and had his loose cannon fireball gave the area a second look over, they wouldn't have been in danger from the cave. Without a moment to think or grasp the situation, Charles bolted to his left, crashing into the obsidian wall with a thud that would've knocked the wind from his lungs had they still been alive. The cascades of rocks careened from the rafters of the cave in the position he once stood in. Had the zombie doctor been a blink slower he would've found his figure plastered to the ashy cave ground.
Dirt, dust, and soot hung heavy on the air as Charles gathered his thoughts. The pitch blackness that blotted his view gave the deceased man no sort of indication of what was ahead nor where his companions stood, but from what he could hear he was totally alone. The wall of stone that ripped itself from the cave ceiling managed to separate the zombie from the others as well as that stampede of savage beasts. He strolled onward to the stone wall, running a hand along its rugged expanse as he began to march opposite the way he came.
Charlie clicked his tongue in annoyance. Not only was the way he'd come blocked off, but he couldn't even hear what was going on on the other side of the wall. After several steps of feeling the rock he accessed there was no way he would be able to knock his way through the stone and judging from it's density neither would his companions.
So he'd walk.
A chilling breeze from the zombie's twelve o'clock tipped the man off to his next move. Onward he walked in the direction of the breeze, hopefully leading to wherever the hell those rabid animals came from and the lab that he'd come to tear down. There was no telling what he'd find up ahead or how long it'd take him to find his accomplices, but they were both capable adults whom Charles knew could fend for themselves. They'd meet up again eventually.
