With the rampant crime in the Grand Line, it was only inevitable that there would be a visible and prominent drug trade problem – big and small – within both Paradise and the New World. Usually it was up to the police to take care of that, but sometimes they were big and dangerous enough to warrant Marine interference. Not too big though – those were usually in the New World and/or are being guarded with the help of… unsavory elements. Rumors are that even nobles and fellow Marines are involved with that crap, but he had no confirmation and that was something even Zernebog was afraid to dig into. Not with his current fresh position. [break][break]
Still, he was here today in Jaya because he and his squad had received a tip from the leadership in Mock Town of a presence of a drug and moonshine smuggling ring in Jaya that needed to be removed. They were to cooperate with a select local bounty hunter in the area to navigate the forest and dismantle this ring, which disgruntled some of his men but was fine with him – he’d hate to have to navigate an unfamiliar forest without a local guide. And so they went over to Jaya. Once they were there, they spotted a white haired man by the shore and Zerne walked over to him, his Marine squad behind him as he waved. ”Are you Ringley Barnum? We’re the Marines asked to assist with this bust by the mayor of Mock Town.” [break][break]
