[attr="class","afir4"]”You’re sure about this information and this map, Doctor Robotnik? Absolutely sure?”
The man grinned widely and twirled his large orange mustache. “Of course I am! I’m still one of the best sources of information in this part of the Grand Line, and that’s without those shady Cipher Pol agents or nifty Marine toys. I always pay back my debts, and being able to study even that much on Haki and YOUR personal abilities were very much worth it. Suggestion as strong as your songs is a rare talent, Hidalgo.”
”And you say that this… Tremor Tremor –excuse me, Gura Gura no Mi is going to help me with that? And would be worth losing the ability to swim in the sea over?”
“Absolutely. And if ever you change your mind, well… you can always sell it to me or somewhere else for a great price. You know how devil fruits go nowadays.”
”And you didn’t get this yourself because…?”
The man ran a hand through his bald head. “I would have taken it myself if I could. But alas, I’m too old and too engrossed in my studies to go through that voyage. Besides, I like my hot tub and my beach time too much. You know how it is. Besides, I do have a vested interest in seeing how THAT fruit works with your abilities and that wily mind of yours, in particular.”
And with a map, he and a few of his crew –the others had important errands to run, and it wasn’t like they were actually leaving Water 7 territory or anything, just going around to that island –more of a tucked away rock formation that got separated from the main island a while back- plotted on the map –in fact they weren’t even leaving view of the island at all. Fortunately, Miyu was still here to lead the way so even with not all hands on deck they could still sail. He and his shipwright just needed to do the legwork.
”How’s the course lookin’ so far, my dear?” He asked as he hopped on up to where Miyu was steering before looking over at Bedivere, who was near the railings since he couldn’t quite afford anyone looking up over at the crow’s nest right now. ”And ‘Vere, see anything up on that scope? Marine patrol? Scout ship? Rogue sea monster? Or just calm waves or even something else entirely?” Rogue sea monsters usually didn’t venture near islands, especially not busy ports with presences that could actually harm them, but it paid to be cautious. In fact, she had yet to see any ship outside of the one they were riding on. Not a single monster - a few birds, sure, and some surfacing fish of some kind, but nothing exciting or cool or gigantic and kaiju-like. Even the sea seemed to be boring from their onset, and she wasn't enough of a nerd to know anything about having a weather eye. It all looked fine to her. "I ain't seen shit!" With an exasperated sigh she leaned over the railing, arms drooping. This trip was already dragging on and on and on and she pushed off to pace around the railing, clearly itching for something that wasn't just lookout duty. She lazily looked out; she was actually putting effort forward, it just didn't look like it. "How long was the trip supposed to take, anyways? You sure that Miyu can get us there?" A bit of banter might spice up the trip, at any rate; she just wasn't sure anyone would take the bait. --- MIGUEL HIDALGO MIYU SERGIUS |

It was a certainly interesting little quest the Captain was taking her and Bedivere on. She had poured over the map for a good amount of time this morning, flicking through weather patterns for the area to make see the odds for trouble on the horizon, Miyu had dedicated a good amount of time this morning to preparation. Which probably explained her casual attire for the time being, a shirt so large the shorts she had on couldn't be seen... Or maybe the shorts were so short, the shirt covered them? Or both, probably both. [break][break]
That was irrelevant for the time being, though. She was carefully turning the wheel of the ship when the Forte Crew's Captain swung himself up onto the deck beside her. Glancing his way, Miyu quirked a brow at his question, but didn't answer right away to allow Bedivere to alert them of anything on the horizon. [break][break]
"I ain't seen shit!" [break][break]
Pleasant. With a snort of amusement, Miyu rolled her eyes from the short crew member to look back ahead herself. At the next question though, Miyu slowly dragged her eyes back to the clearly bored Bedivere. Her expression was blank and impossible to read, but she smiled after a beat. "No trouble of note, yet. Getting closer to this rock formation may be a bit troublesome, but I doubt it'll be something we can't handle" she answered. [break][break]
"And it shouldn't be too long of a journey, Bedivere. Patience is typically rewarded" she playfully chided. "I know how to get there just fine, this isn't my first expedition."

[attr="class","afir4"] It was a relief to hear that, but the way Bedivere put it as well as her position on the railing left him chuckling. He could already see the boredom start to sink in –and perhaps a part of him was craving for some action too. However, a bigger part of him wanted to just have this done as smoothly as possible, because less complications meant less possible damage to themselves and to the ship. And the sooner he could figure out and deal with that fruit, the better. Right?
Right.
He relaxed a bit more when Miyu seconded the assessment before answering the query about the time needed to get there. ”Yeah. The only reason we’re taking as long as we are is because we’re working with real nice gentle breezes for our sails. It’s not like we can work this ship with oars – not even you have the muscles for that Vere.”
He then shrugged as he looked on ahead. ”Thank you for the information, my dear. Besides, the doctor did say there were natives on the islands or something. Maybe they’ll be interesting enough for ya, Vere?”
But then… adventure was coming to them –or at least trouble- as while they were talking the wind shifted and picked up, and soon they were able to see an island some time away… and another set of sails approaching it from another direction. The sails were painted the same blue as the sky for some reason, making it much harder to spot over the distance, and in fact it was the wood of the ship that was spotted first. It was a ship as small as theirs, but it was definitely an unknown.

[googlefont="Euphoria Script:400"] kill [googlefont="Roboto"][attr="id","tag"] | "Patience can go stuff itself." She mumbled that to herself as she slumped over the railing, dutifully keeping lookout. The smell of the salt was growing, and now there was land off the horizon. No need to call it out since they all saw it - but that wasn't the only thing to keep an eye on. After a moment of curiosity at something in her peripheral, Bedivere moved over to the other side of the front, leaning out to get a better look. ". . . I got somethin'" she started, turning back over to the other two. "Something in the water over that-a-way, right? I ain't stir crazy?" Boredom could have driven her to madness in this moment, but it seemed like a lucid thing. She moved away from her lookout position to start prepping the boat for a landing. "With any luck, that's a boat!" With more luck, people to bash and fight and take out. Bedivere couldn't hide her excitement at the prospect, even if she figured the other two would prefer to avoid any of that nightmare. --- MIGUEL HIDALGO MIYU SERGIUS |

The sight of the island in the distance brought a sense of relief, showing potential for this to be an easy task ahead. However, that wouldn't seem to be the case when Bedivere was calling for attention regarding something in the water. Aside from the island, as Miyu squinted at the distance, she could pick up the sight of brown in the water - a boat of sorts. The sails? They were blending in with the sky briefly, but once she figured out the boat, the sails were easy to find. [break] [break]
It caused her brows to furrow, having hoped to not have to deal with combat in this quest, but it was part of her life style, she figured. "Unfortunately, I think with our luck, that is indeed a boat" Miyu responded to the battle ready, Bedivere. Sighing softly, she looked towards Miguel as she started to adjust the steering wheel for the craft. "Should we engage, or ignore the other ship for now, darling? I can always try to get closer or avoid it entirely? Hope they're not here for the same thing, that sort of thing?" she offered, honestly preferring the latter. [break] [break]
However, she knew Bedivere would be all for the task of fighting these other island-goers, and Miguel was a fan of bloodshed himself. She was, too, admittedly, but in much more controlled spaces where she could enjoy it. Not that she'd say that out loud or anything.

I send the swarm. I send the horde. I send the thunder from the sky. I send the fire raining down. I send a hail of burning ice on ev'ry field. [attr="class","afir4"] The possibility of actual confrontation and even bloodshed sent a small thrill down Miguel’s spine. He always did love bloodshed, even if he wasn’t the noble gladiador sort of man. He preferred his action quick, dirty, and with advantage and luck on his side… and a possible sea confrontation? With three people manning this small ship, they may have a chance if the other ship was just as small as theirs.
Unfortunately, it was still too far to be sure. And frankly, though he had his navigator and shipwright with him, he knew that they would be much better on land combat than they would be in ship-to-ship combat. They weren’t old hands at this, after all, and a full ship-to-ship battle required a little bit more people topside and in the decks handling the cannons.
And to top it all off, Dr. Robotnik mentioned that while it definitely wasn’t well-known that there was a devil fruit on the island, there were at least people who might be going after it soon… well, damn. That and the other thing made his decision for him, really.
”Avoid them for now, my dear. We’ll be better off fighting them on land than on sea. I’d like to be able to sail back to Water 7 on a functioning boat, after all. Especially given what devil fruits can do to people.” He replied after a few moments. ”Looks like you might get your wish after all, ‘Vere.” He added with a small chuckle as he watched Miyu continue to steer the ship. It won’t be long now till they reach the island… but who was going to get there first and what was waiting for them there?

Bedivere practically bounced around with excitement and growing adrenaline as she really got into the thinking of combat with strange new people and possibly some island natives. New weapons to pick up and toss around, new people to beat the snot out of, new fighting styles to see if she could endure them! She ran over to the corner and immediately began to gear back up; two rifles over her shoulders to rest onto her back, slapped some daggers into her belt loop, managed to put the stolen saber into a belt loop and palmed the reliable, shitty flintlock pistol. Locked and loaded, and excellent for bashing in skulls. "Good to go here! I can take on at least one small ship... yeah! At least one!" A beaming, toothy smile and a fire in her eyes. She really was into this moment and what might come next. --- MIGUEL HIDALGO MIYU SERGIUS |

A crimson hue took sight of a ship not too far, but neither too close, of their own. An ebony index took to shifting a blonde strand of hair before their gaze. Piqued interest caused the nonchalant maw come to shift into a soft smile. "It would seem as if we have competition, Captain." The tanned male spoke softly toward his fellow shipmate. "I'd hope you do well to catch up on your sleep, Captain; else we be in deep trouble."
A blonde male lazily stared at the sky, a gaze finding it's hazel hue to meet the male. "I told you not to call me Captain, idiot." The male turned over in lazed manner. An annoyed muse all while the ebony boy was happily prepped for some entertainment. It had been quite sometime since the ebony male and his crew came into human contact. For, unspoken reason, it was never left pretty in the end. "Oh well, as the navigator I'll simply steer us toward somewhere else. We'll land on shore somewhere nearby our soon-to-be guest; or rather..." The ebony pondered with a slight change in tune, a darkened gaze to match his monotonous tone.
"Our soon to be next meal."
Thus the boat began to steer toward the opposite direction, shifting off course as if they were turning only to begin heading toward another location upon the island. As the ship sailed within the opposite direction, it was only prolonging their time before the start of the race to what both crews came for: the Gura Gura no Mi.
NOTE: And so it begins! Okay guys, I won't make post 24/7; but do expect random mod posts and sudden events to come! c: I promise to make this as fun as possible, haha. Any questions, just have your captain here message me!

In fact… it was going in the opposite direction? Still on route to the island but definitely not the same route. Interesting.
Perhaps they thought they weren’t a threat –entirely possible, about the only really known people in his crew right now were his doctor and his shipwright, which worked out for him quite well- or that they also thought that they would be better able to deal with them on land. Well, whatever the case, he was quite alright with this for the moment.
He then glanced over at Bedivere and chuckled. ”Well, we’ll probably have the chance to get at ‘em if the location of the fruit has been compromised in some way. That or the natives will be the one to give us trouble.” He remarked with a wry, light smile as he looked at the looming island up ahead.
After a little while, he then glanced at Miyu and saw her signal that they were about to get close enough to dock. ”But first, I believe it’s about time for us to prepare to drop anchor and dock in at the beach. Then we get to have our fun, I believe~? So get on that rigging, ‘Vere.”
With that said, he hummed a little tune to himself as he began to work on the rigging as well – it’s the work of two people, after all. And once that was done and they were close enough, either him or Bedivere –whoever gets to it first, honestly- would drop the anchor while the other would send the landing ramp down.

[googlefont="Euphoria Script:400"] kill [googlefont="Roboto"][attr="id","tag"] | Heave ho! Bedivere was humming as she grabbed at the ropes and helped put the boat into its resting state. No need for the ship to blow away while they were grabbing all the treasure, after all. This was just part of a labor of love - the ship was kind to them, and it was her job to keep it up to snuff. Of course that included how badly she loved to play rough - ships were weapons too, if you needed one that badly. It didn't take long for her to get that sorted out and take the anchor in hand - with a huff and grunt, she sent it over the side and into the seabed with a satisfying splash and watched as some sand blew up and around. A nice enough beach, it seemed, which let her run over to practically kick the ramp over and watch it crash down with a much louder splash. A few poor seagulls were immediately scared off and flew across to a safer side of the beach. "Alright alright alright! Which way do we go? Straight in? Should I go find that other boat?" As she rushed to the sandy shore, her multitude of equipment and firearms clanked around against each other. Bedivere was not the stealthy option for a mission like this. She was - how did they put it once? - a diversion. --- MIGUEL HIDALGO MIYU SERGIUS LIGHT |

I send the swarm. I send the horde. I send the thunder from the sky. I send the fire raining down. I send a hail of burning ice on ev'ry field. [attr="class","afir4"] With Bedivere’s help, it didn’t take them long at all to go through the necessary motions of docking the ship on the beach. Sure there was no actual dock for them, but that was actually less of a problem for small ships than for big ones, and this beach was actually definitely nice enough to dock in. Bonus points for having little annoying seaweed and possible lurking jellyfish nearby. Just the usual small fish and bits and pieces of broken shells that washed into shore.
He chuckled as Bedivere rushed down, but he didn’t immediately follow her. Instead, he went over to Miyu and pecked her on the lips. ”Please watch over the ship in case the natives or some other group of aspiring thieves gets to it. I believe you and Venin are more than enough to handle stragglers. Vere and I will take care of obtaining the fruit and taking care of the riff-raff.”
He waited for a reply before going down from the ship as well at a more leisurely pace. He was easily able to catch what Bedivere was saying –she wasn’t making an attempt not to be loud so it was hard not to hear- and chuckled as he pulled out a map. ”We’ll be using this map to get to the fruit. We’ll be getting into trouble along the way knowing our luck and that ship we saw, so don’t worry about getting no action, alright?”
With that, he began to lead the way out of the beach and into the jungle beyond.

[googlefont="Euphoria Script:400"] kill [googlefont="Roboto"][attr="id","tag"] | They had a full ten minutes of peace before things went to hell. It started with a kind of... click. Bedivere noticed it when she took a step forward and felt something shift under her foot; this wasn't a new sensation to her. Going first was one of her jobs, after all. The warning sound gave her enough time to armor up her arms with armament haki as the spear-like shaft of wood shot up from the jungle floor, smashing into her arm and shattering into splinters from the force meeting her armored arm; after the impact, the blackened force slowly crept away off her skin. Damn, they meant business. "Ah, for fuck's sake. Traps? I'm no good with this kind of stuff, Captain. I mean, I can take more of 'em if you want, but its such a hassle!" On top of it, the splinters had gotten into her pants! That would take time to pick out, and she was already trying to do that with fussy whining. The unfortunate problem was that the trap was more like an alarm, and they were already surrounded in the underbrush; hints of movement, glints of sharp steel. A true greeting party for the new island visitors. --- MIGUEL HIDALGO LIGHT |

Miguel had heard it around the same time as Bedivere, and his eyes widened when he saw spikes being launched at her. However, he wasn’t all that concerned because he knew just how durable the woman was, as evidenced by the black coating that suddenly crept up her arms as she blocked the spikes from hitting her without actually getting hurt at all – in fact she was just whining about getting splinters out of her pants. He could probably do the same, but he wasn’t a fan of getting hit if he could help it and splinters were even more annoying for him than for her.
”I was kind of hoping they would be somewhat more benign, but that isn’t likely considering that spikes are definitely not good hunting traps. At least it isn’t one of those bear trap things.” Miguel lightly commented as he paused nearby her, a hand already reaching for the cutlass by his hip.
He certainly wasn’t the best at spotting things –that was Miyu’s job, admittedly, being their resident sensor person along with being their navigator- but even he was able to hear the rustling in the foliage and the glint of something shiny.
”We come here in peace…?” He tried with his most charming smile and soothing tone… only to see a spear thrown his way that he was barely able to deflect by scrambling to the side and slamming his rapier at its shaft to deflect it. ”Can’t we talk about this?” He dryly quipped as light-skinned, tattooed people with cropped hair, leather scraps for clothing and armor, and different kinds of weapons began to get out of the underbrush.
“No. Leave. Outsiders no longer welcome. You all after treasure.” The one with the particularly wicked looking spear demanded as he pointed his spear at them. “No more talk. Leave.”
Miguel genuinely looked apologetic. ”I’m sorry, but we’re not leaving this island after we just got on it. ‘Vere, we’ll need to mow our way through unfortunately. Or fortunately in your case.” At the last words, his eyes became rather malicious as he pulled out his cutlass and dagger, prepared to cut his way through as the surrounding party began to charge with their spears or machetes....

[googlefont="Euphoria Script:400"] kill [googlefont="Roboto"][attr="id","tag"] | Certainly one way to cut to the chase, but none of it mattered now that Bedivere was released from her proverbial leash. Her captain hardly had time to draw his own weapons before Bedivere's black coating had returned to her arms as she slugged the nearest native's spear, snapping the wood. The new makeshift mini-spear made for an excellent stabbing instrument, and Bedivere knew how to play. She had to learn some kind of music from this captain, but all she could do was making people scream. Bedivere was well equipped for this kind of endeavor. One rifle shot went off; it was now a melee instrument since there would be no time to reload. That was fine, that was fine; it still made for hefty club as she went forward, hooting and hollering as she got to do what she loved best. The thrill of combat! The adrenaline rush! The fear from all involved and yet the desire for more of it! It fueled her as she mowed forward, oblivious to the path behind or to her sides. There was only forward, as decreed by Miguel. The straight line was the shortest path. "Woooo!" --- MIGUEL HIDALGO LIGHT a lil fight music |
